Ticket Birthday

Before I begin, let's take care of a few random announcements:
1. Have you played in the WMS Sketch Challenge this week? A stamp set will be awarded to a random participant!
2. There's another challenge as well on the WMS blog. And again, you could win a stamp set of your choice!

And you don't need WMS stamps to play in either challenge (but we love when you do use them)! Hope to see you playing along in one or both challenges!

Well, I already ruined one birthday card by showing it early. Time to ruin another!

This is for a guy (in case its not immediately obvious). It's somewhat manly... I couldn't help it with the ribbon. I'm sorry! I tend to pass all masculine cards by the hubs first and as long as he doesn't go "blech", I consider it a "pass". That said, I think he's getting looser on his standards...

I used my new ticket die. OMG, how fun!!! I love ripping apart the tickets -- it gives me such joy! To personalize the card, I went ahead and used my white gel pen to add the name, the month and the year to the tickets as well. I had a small pen malfunction but it seems readable so I let it slide.

I stitched on the sides as well and inked it up with some of my distress inks but it's still not necessarily standing out that well. Oh wells. Live and learn.

I like to blame the fact that English is my "second" language for my language issues. For those of you who don't know, I didn't learn English until I entered Kindergarten for all intents and purposes. My mom felt I'd learn her bad accent so I went to school knowing "potty", "hurt" and "more". As a result, my first few days of school were spent in the corner as the kids taught me swear words...  The rest of the school year was also spent in the corner because someone told me to stick my middle finger up... who knew?

Anyways, the point of this was to explain that I thought "It's Your Day, Best Wishes" was a birthday sentiment. That's what I had on this card... until my husband asked me if Oak's wife knew that he was getting married again. I think it's generic enough but just to be safe, I figured it was best to just re-stamp the ticket... So if you look carefully, there are 2 red tickets, one on top of the other. :-P

Great card! I love those ticket dies! Too funny about the sentiment! It reminded me of a card I was making for a swap over the weekend, it's a typewriter, and on the paper coming up out of it I stamped, "you're just my type", then in the bottome corner I stamped "Happy Father's Day". I ran it by my hubby, and he was like, "Hey dad, you're just my type" is a little creepy!" LMBO! Well, even thought it wasn't being made for him, I had him in mind when making it, like for a hubby on father's day. Anyway, I went back to the drawing board, and just stamped the Happy Father's Day on the Typewriter. And that is from someone with English as their primary language! lol.

OH you poor thing...I can just see you in Kindergarten not knowing what to do and some mean kid telling you to "fly the bird". Kids are cruel!
But this card is adorable, and PERFECT for a man, bow included.

Love this! And I don't have a problem with ribbon on a masculine card...as long as it's not satin, pink, or tied in a big bow! :O

I just say that having two red tickets is because you wanted to add some dimension. :) That's my story and I would stick to it....lol! Lovely card!

That ticket die looks like a lot of fun! Too funny about learning those swear words in kinder! Just for the record, I use 'It's Your Day' sentiments a lot.....I think it's generic enough to use on multiple occasions.

Love your card, but your kindergarten story was the best!!! You've got a great way to tell a story: I could just picture you as a little girl and all the "kind" traps your kindergarten friends set for you! TFS!!
