Materials
1. Cardboard box
2. Undershirt or any white fabric (muslin or felt would work well)
3. White paper - the back of gift wrap, poster board, 12 by 12 paper
4. Desk Lamp
5. Daytime light bulb
The whole process took maybe 30 minutes. I took a 13 by 13 by 16 box and cut three squares into it, leaving a 2 inch border on each side. The entire box was then wrapped in my dear hubster's old undershirt. Lined the inside with the backside of wrapping paper right now for a white background (that will probably change over time... it was what I had on hand but you can definitely see the crinkle I made accidentally when I put the paper in) and now I have my very own light box!
I've shown this card before but I wanted to do a comparison test with my "old" method to see how true the colors are. I'm only throwing light on it from above - if I can find another desk lamp, I might try throwing light at the card from both the left and the right to see how that changes things as I did have to slightly add some fill light when I uploaded the photo. I may also just try to move the light source on top and see if that helps with the fill light issue.
What do you think? For a grand total of $0 , I'd call it a success!

I've been meaning to make a light box, thanks for the instructions. My DH almost never wears his white shirt, I doubt he'll miss it. AND the card is lovely, those pearls are the perfect accent.
That light box is a great idea. Thanks for the info.
Wow, this is stunning! Love your card, it's so elegant. Love your light box too, the photo is fantastic.
Hugs, Christine :)
How creative of you! I may have to give this a try too... I have good lighting, however on cloudy days... not so much. Thanks for the idea. :-)
That card rocks--love the colors--and TFS your light box tips. Making one of those was my New Year's Resolution--HA!
Very pretty! Great job. TFS
I love this card, the colors are just so pretty. I have made my own light box too, out a cereal box, one of the big ones from Sam's Club. Works well, but the tip about a daytime bulb would probably help with color:)
I was wondering about light boxes. Thanks for sharing your info and directions. Gorgous card too!
